Meet some of the top teachers using IXL

Congratulations to the IXL Elite 100 for the 2015–2016 academic year! Out of the more than 250,000 teachers who use IXL, we want to recognize the Elite 100 as our top teachers based on the average time spent on IXL per student. This is our third cohort of Elite 100, and we’re blown away that a third of this year’s teachers are repeat winners. Read on to learn more about this extraordinary group of teachers.
The Elite 100 of 2016 hail from 30 U.S. states and 5 countries, including Canada, Thailand, and Lesotho. Students in Elite 100 classrooms practiced as much as 188 hours each during the school year—and that’s a lot of learning!
We asked our Elite 100 to tell us how they use IXL and what features they like best. Here are a few of their responses:
“I use IXL for daily practice, as well as for intervention and enrichment. First, I model the concept for the whole group, and then the students work independently. I love how IXL has brought the students in my classroom closer to each other. They want to see each other succeed, so they help each other out. I absolutely love seeing students teaching other students. I couldn’t be more proud.”

“I really love the reports! I can easily target which topics are troubling students, how long they worked on a particular skill, and which skills or categories have been worked on the most. “In general, when students do their work, their test scores improve. I have used the site for 3 years and always see the most improvement in those students who do their homework, which is largely IXL. I have found that giving students choices for homework works well. I will assign, for example, ‘The A’s—complete 6 out of 8.’”

“I use IXL in my classroom as enrichment for my students. I have what we call the “IXL Club,” and this is for students who consistently do IXL in addition to their assigned work. When we reach big goals (25,000; 50,000; 75,000; etc.), we have a small celebration (donuts, pizza party, ice cream, etc.).”
