L&N is a really good school. It is school where I was able to expand my horizons and think more on what I was going to do. I was able to also build upon skills that I had and even was able to unlock newer ones. The teachers are amazing people that are willing to help you every step of the process and seem to have that joy of teaching.

The school was a very beneficial experience overall. Almost all students and faculty are universally nice and willing to help you out with everything. Not much sports culture but huge in the world of STEM and arts. Parking is the biggest downside with too little spaces. Great atmosphere and educational readiness overall.

A well-rounded school all around that presents a better opportunity for every student compared to other schools. Stem is a smaller school, which means the student-to-staff ration is lower and allows for more of a connective feeling.

My overall experience at STEM has been pretty great. They have multiple classes here that other high schools don't offer, which was one of the determining factors that made me want to go here, and I'm really glad that I decided to. All the teachers and most of the other kids I've met here have also been great!

My overall experience here has been a very fun one! The teachers are amazing and passionate about everything they teach and are always open to talking and communicating with students! The location is quite unique being in the old L&N Station with beautiful stained glass windows and quiet and peaceful classrooms. However, the location is also one of its downsides, as it does not allow the school to have a proper gym or sports field and anyone looking for sports specifically should probably look elsewhere. The sports we do have though are very competent and competitive like our Robotics team and our Cyber-patriots teams!

This school does extremely well at preparing students for college by creating a schedule the mimics more college like classes. Students are also often pushed to do their best and feel welcome to talk to teachers if they are struggling. Lastly, the school has great funding used to grow areas like the maker space to allow students creative freedom.

Throughout my time at L&N, I have experienced immense growth from who I was when I first came to the school as a freshman. It is an excellent community that has allowed me to open up, especially socially. Additionally, the academics have challenged me in a way that I don't think I would have found anywhere else. The faculty is very encouraging, and I have found that I have made many solid relationships with my teachers, which makes it much easier for me to ask for help. The worst part of my experience at L&N is definitely the broadness of classes. I've found that L&N has closed itself off to all pathways of STEM, and has put a large focus on technology more than anything. Those who don't like computer science are left with considerably less options in terms of classes or opportunities. I would love to see L&N extend themselves past their focus on CS and consider all components of STEM equally. To end on a positive note, the faculty at L&N have outdone themselves in career outreach.

I have enjoyed having teachers that care about the success of students. We are given freedoms and the expectations are high. Our campus is located downtown and the campus is very unique allowing for experiences that not every high school students get. We have year long classes with genius hour breaks during the day to allow mental breaks through clubs or extracurricular activities.

L&N has truly allowed me to be the best student I can be. Not only does the school offer rigorous classes, but the staff and administration truly prepare you for life in the real world.

L&N STEM Academy is a unique experience academically, socially, and with the extra-curricular activities that are offered as compared to other Knox County schools. The campus is very unique as it is in a beautiful historic building and in downtown Knoxville. There are some amazing teachers, admin, and staff at this school. We have had both ups and downs with the school (both in dealing with administration and with teachers), but overall have been very pleased with the education and experiences that our children have had at L&N. The extra-curricular activities include a rowing team, Ultimate frisbee, bowling, rock climbing and more traditional sports such as tennis, swimming, and cross country. There are also academic clubs/activities such as NHS, NAHS, Quiz Bowl, Science Olympiad, and Model UN. Wouldn't have sent my kids any where else.

I have had an amazing experience with L&N STEM Academy. It is difficult academically and pushes you to be the best person you can be. It is filled with some of the most hardworking people I know, and almost every student is extremely accepting and kind.

I graduated from L&N STEM Academy in 2020. This school is amazing. There are so many clubs to join and all the staff is very kind. It prepared me for college by challenging coursework. If you need help, every teacher and staff member is more than happy to help you.

I'm just so incredibly grateful to get the opportunity to go STEM! It has been an amazing experience. The student body is very supportive and accepting, and I don't know how people are saying its not diverse, because I feel that its a very diverse student body. Also, the teachers are amazing, and challenge you to push to the best of your abilities. Also, most are very lenient with deadlines, and very understanding of a student's situation. I love that I can choose classes to be with my friends, or with certain teachers, because the school is small, and you are able to do things like that. I also love that we can walk downtown after school! There are just so many good things about stem, and I am proud to be there. I reccomend it to anyone who is willing to put the work in, and break a few windows while doing it!

I am currently a Senior and this school has it's ups and downs but one of the best attributes of this school is the teachers the teachers are very engaging and you can grow a personal connection with the teachers unlike many other schools. Another up would be depending on your schedule you don't have to come to school as much for example if you have all digital labs on a monday you don't have to come to school or if you have one class for whatever day of the week you only have to come for that class and then you can go home.

As a Sophom*ore about to hit Junior year--and all while Covid-19 surges across the world--I can say without a doubt L&N has been the best place to go. While the workload is certainly a deterrent for some, the teachers and staff are and always have been willing to help. Thanks to the open environment I've better learned to understand myself, and get to hone in on my talents and interests. Would recommend anyone to come and join us, though only if the student wishes. Coming to L&N is a choice kids should make on their own, and thus for the parents out their, always talk to them first before sending them here or any other STEM/Magnet school. I have heard a few tales of kids FORCED into Stem, and nobody prospers in a place you don't want to be.

I attended this school. A couple of the teachers were great; they engaged with & cared about their students, but the vast majority of staff are there for the money & prestige of teaching at a STEM school. They don't respect their students and expect the them to teach themselves. Students might ask for help, only to be refused help and told to ask another student while the teacher does nothing. Students may be mistreated by teachers because they transferred in from a "poor" school. Teachers may walk off without explaining assignments and leave students to figure it out alone. The adminstration may threaten to kick out students who voice objections concerning the school, or if the parents do. The administration, in its totality, is a discriminatory force against its own student body. The graduating class is always tiny because it kicks out anyone who struggles in this environment and only the survivors get the prestige of graduating from a STEM school, but the rest receive a ruined GPA.

I absolutly love it here. I transferred from South Doyle where I was bullied and I was not being academically challenged.

I personally had a not so great experience here. Coming from a pretty diverse school to this one was a major change. I had issues with teachers and staff, though the majority were pretty nice. Mr. Christopher Webb was the only teacher who I felt wanted me to succeed and who supported me during my 4 years. The cafeteria staff are also incredibly nice and hardworking and made me feel welcomed. They deserve a lot more recognition then they get. I had friends who needed help, but the school did not help them or just dismissed them. Their academics are good, but they need to work on how they communicate with students.
